Jesus Is The Cornerstone.

“How perfect that Jesus, an experienced carpenter, knew all about building. He Who knew the importance of a cornerstone, became the very foundation and cornerstone of our faith.” – Unknown (*quote, not Scripture)

Jesus is both the foundation and cornerstone of our faith. “For in Scripture it says, ‘See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious Cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Him will never be out to shame.’ ” (1 Peter 2:6) We are told that we have security in Christ for that very reason. “Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of His household, built in the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Homself as the Chief Cornerstone.” (Ephesians 2:19,20)

This is a true comfort for those who follow Him – as long as we remain in Him, we will never be shaken. “So this is what the Socereign Lord says: ‘See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.’ ” (Isaiah 28:16) “Jesus said to them, ‘Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?” (Matthew 21:42)
