Jesus Is Our Apostle.

“Fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest Whom we confess.” – Hebrews 3:1

Jesus clearly stated, “I and the Father are one.” (John 10:30) At His crucifixion, our Savior had all the weight and guilt of all of our sin upon Himself, yet having never broken one of the Father’s commandments, He was the perfect, spotless sacrifice. By this act, He made it possible for us to approach God the Father without a high priest, because Jesus Himself is the only High Priest we need come to anymore.

As Jesus was taking His last breaths on this earth, as fully God and fully man, the entrance into the sacred Holy of Holies was literally, physically, opened wide, that all might see the Glory of God, “for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.” (Luke 23:45) Under the old covenant law, God must be worshipped in His Temple, with all sorts of cleansing and sacrificial rituals. Under the new covenant, we are to worship God through Jesus Christ alone, who is Himself the Temple. We go to God the Father through Jesus Christ, His Son, not through an earthly priest or any other human or tradition. “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” (Matthew 5:17)
