“We do not understand the intricate pattern of the stars in their courses, but we know that He Who created them does, and that just as surely as He guides them, He is charting a safe course for us.” – Billy Graham (*quote, not Scripture)
I believe there are two main truths to keep in mind when we think about the fact that Jesus is our guide.
First, we need to remember that we are in need of His guidance and will not make wise decisions without His leading. “He (Jesus) also told them this parable: ‘Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit?’ ” (Luke 6:39) We must follow Jesus and follow others who lead us closer to Jesus, and who are walking in His wisdom.
Secondly, we should trust that Jesus will guide us to others who will be a source of knowledge and encouragement to us as we follow after Him. “We pray that God our Father and the Lord Jesus will guide us to you.” (1 Thessalonians 3:11)
As we listen to the Lord’s leading through His Word and His Holy Spirit, He shows us what to do. “You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward You will take me into glory.” (Psalm 73:24)
