“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.” – Hebrews 10:22
Drawing near to God with a sincere heart means being willing to leave behind all distractions and focus on Him more than material treasures. “Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him. ‘There is still one thing you haven’t done,’ He told him. ‘Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.’ ” (Mark 10:21)
Having wealth is not necessarily a negative thing, but putting anything as a priority before God, or putting off obedience to what He called you to do is a huge issue. “Jesus said to the people who believed in Him, ‘You are truly My disciples if you remain faithful to My teachings.’ ” (John 8:31)
We must obey what the Lord has commanded rather than worry about what others think. “I solemnly command you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus and the highest angels to obey these instructions without taking sides or showing favoritism to anyone.” (1 Timothy 5:21) Let us walk in the truth, following the commands of our Savior, with loving hearts.
