Jesus Is Immanuel, “God With Us.”

“He is the God Who can be found. The God Who can be known. The God Who wants to be close to us. That’s why He is called Immanuel, which means ‘God with us.’ ” – Stormie Omartian (*quote, not Scripture)

The prophets of old foretold clearly that the Messiah would be called “Immanuel,” because He was God coming down to earth. “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14)
The New Testament promises were 100% consistent with the old. “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call Him ‘Immanuel,’ (which means ‘God with us’).” (Matthew 1:23)

The incredible love given to us through Jesus Christ should cause us to be extremely grateful. “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He Who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all — how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:31,32) “Now it is God Who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” (2 Corinthians 1:21,22)
