“He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.” – John 13:5
Jesus is both a servant to His Father and a servant to His people. “Indeed, Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire agaknst Your holy servant Jesus, Whom You anointed.” (Acts 4:27) “Stretch out Your hand to he and perform signs and wonders through the Name of Your holy servant Jesus.” (Acts 4:30) “The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant, Jesus. You handed Him over to be killed, and you disowned Him before Pilate, though he had decided to let Him go.” (Acts 3:13)
Jesus is our perfect example. He told Hid disciples (that includes us!) that true leadership begins with service. “Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, ‘Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.’ ” (Mark 9:35) Jesus was God in the flesh, yet He was not above passing out food. “Then Jesus served them the bread and fish.” (John 21:13)
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to served others and to give His life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28) Jesus is the perfect servant-leader.
