Jesus Is The Bridegroom.

“Jesus answered, ‘How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while He is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them.” – Matthew 9:15

Time and time again in Scripture, the illustration of the bridegroom coming for his bride is used to represent Jesus Christ coming back for His church at the Second Coming. We are to await His return with great anticipation and excitement. “The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.” (John 3:29)

“As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.” (Isaiah 62:5) Can you imagine how amazing that is? Our perfect, amazing, all-powerful God, the Creator of all things, rejoices over us! We His sheep, who often go astray, who fail Him in so many ways, have been made so righteous through the sacrifice of Jesus that God rejoices over us. Wow! How truly incredible is the mercy and grace our Father has lavished upon us! “Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God.” (1 John 3:1a)
