Jesus Is The Sanctuary.

“We have this hope as an anchor…It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, Who went before us, has entered on our behalf.” – Hebrews 6:19-20

Jesus referred to Himself as the sanctuary – the Holy of Holies, One with the Father. “Jesus answered them, ‘Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will rebuild it.’ ” (John 2:19) Jesus said this in reference to His resurrection, three days after His death on the cross. “But the sanctuary He was speaking about was His own body.” (John 2:21)

When Jesus presented Himself to God as the sacrifice for our sin, He did this physically, not in the Temple building. “For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; He entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.” (Hebrews 9:24)

Due to the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf, we can now approach God the Father directly through prayer, without the need for a priest to stand between us and God. “Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, and since we have a great Priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart…” (Hebrews 10:19-22a)
