“I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. He has taken me to the banquet hall, and His banner over me is love.” – Song of Songs 2:1,4
Since God is perfection itself, all of God is beautiful. “From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.” (Psalm 50:2) “And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us..” (Psalm 90:17a)
The beauty of the Lord truly shines through His followers: “You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God.” (Isaiah 62:3) Our attitudes and actions, both before God and others, can be beautiful, if they are in accordance with Jesus’ teachings.
When we are instructed how to be becoming, we’re told this: “But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.” (1 Peter 3:4) The beauty of God’s majesty is on display in all of His creation, but it is even more so in mankind, since we are made with many of the characteristics that make up God Himself. “So God created mankind in His own image…” (Genesis 1:27a)
