“I share Einstein’s affirmation that anyone who is not lost on the rapturous awe at the power and glory behind the Mind behind the universe ‘is as good as a burnt out candle.’ ” – Madeleine L’Engle (*quote, not Scripture)
“For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought.” (1 Chronicles 28:9b) Lest we humans try to feign ignorance of His commands, He assures us that He knows even our innermost thoughts before we even think them. “If you say, ‘But we knew nothing about this,’ does not He Who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He Who guards your life know it? Will He not repay everyone according to what they have done?” (Proverbs 24:12)
“If our hearts condemns us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything.” (1 John 3:20) The fact that God knows everything should be more of a comfort than a concern, if we are truly seeking to truly follow after Him and to grow closer to Him. Rather than fearing that our sins will be found out, we can rest in the knowledge that God knows our deepest needs and that nothing in the whole wide world falls outside of His control.
