“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” – John 1:14
An interesting fact about this chapter in John when it defines Jesus as the Word and makes it clear that He is One with the Father – both are God: The very first chapter of the Word of God, Genesis 1, parallels this passage. John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:26 makes the concept of the Trinity quite clear – “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…'”
Since Jesus Himself was there even before Creation, as One with the Father, we can rest assured that it is God Himself Who makes a way for us to have eternal life with Him. Jesus’ literal physical presence here on this earth allows us to understand that He truly knows the struggles faced by humanity, and that He humbled Himself greatly in order to show us the depths of the greatness of His love. Our Redeemer has loved us since before the dawn of time itself – He has always been and always will be, forever.
