“It is because of (God) that you are in Christ Jesus, Who has become for us wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.” – I Corinthians 1:3
Titus 3:3-7 states it so well: “At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived, and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs, having the hope of eternal life.” That’s the very Gospel message, in just a few sentences. The Gospel is easy to understand, so that even a child may be saved through the work of Jesus.
Once we are saved, we are to continue to grow in our relationship with the Lord, through the careful study of His Word, communicating with Him in prayer, listening to the Holy Spirit in our hearts, and serving Him in obedience. “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18)
