Jesus Is Our Source Of Joy.

“Simply being in the presence of God brings us great joy. It happens as we listen to Him speak in His Word; it happens as we pray. But it also happens as we simply enjoy His presence.” – Billy Graham (*quote, not Scripture)

One of the blessings given to us when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord is the Holy Spirit – a part of God Himself who actually takes up residence in our heart. One of the character traits of having the Spirit in us is joy. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22,23)

Since we have the source of our joy rooted in God, we can be testimony to His mercy and grace even in the midst of hard times. Those who are watching our example can see that there’s something different about us. “You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are no gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they?” (Matthew 7:16)

Such good character, even during times of hardship, points to a relationship with Jesus Christ, since He is flawless in His character. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, Who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)
