“Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows.” – Helen Keller (*quote, not Scripture)
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.” (Revelation 22:16) Jesus is both the true Morning Star and the true Light of the World.
We must be wary, however, for our “enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) Unfortunately, Satan often masquerades as an angel of light. He pretends to be the “morning star” and the “light of the world,” so that many are led astray by what looks good and looks like the truth, but is a great lie.
Ever since he fell from heaven for his jealousy of God and pride in himself, the devil has looked good to so many, and pretended to have truth. “How you have fallen from heaven, morning stay, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!” (Isaiah 14:12) Even to the first man and woman, did Satan appear to have truth. “He said to the woman, ‘Did God really say…’ ” (Genesis 3:1b) Let us follow the real Morning Star, and take care not to be deceived by the imposter!
