“Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:39
“Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned.” (Song of Solomon 8:7) The desire to be loved is in the heart of every person; the desire for God is also in the heart of every person. It it no wonder, then, that love is one of the main aspects of the character of God?
To truly be loved unconditionally, completely – body, mind, and soul, is to be loved by God Himself. No human being can love us to the extent we crave. “This is how we know that love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (1 John 3:16)
Since we have been loved with so infinite, complete, and sacrificial a love, we should also show love towards others. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34) “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8) Our love can show His love to others. “To love another person is to see the face of God.” (Victor Hugo, Les Miserables *quote, not Scripture)
