“God has not called me to be successful; He has called me to be faithful.” – Mother Teresa (*quote, not Scripture)
As fully God and fully man, Jesus endured the temptations faced by mankind during His years physically on earth. He has promised to remain faithful to us, even in the most difficult of circumstances. “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
While He doesn’t always give us what we want at the moment, He sovereignly provides that which we need: “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) Like a rock, He is a firm foundation – that which we can always cling to. “For Who is God, but the LORD? And Who is a rock, except our God?” (2 Samuel 22:32) “From the ends of the earth I call to You, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.” (Psalm 61:2) Even in our darkest day, the faithfulness of God stands firm.
