“Whoever follows Me…will have the light of life.” – John 8:12
As it says in 1 John 1:5, there is no darkness found in God, only light. If we are in Christ, His gospel is illuminating the path on which we should go. God’s light reveals what is in our hearts to give us knowledge of His glory (2 Corinthians 4:6). Jesus’ commands should be what guides our conscience, if we are truly in Him.
As followers of Him, we are also commanded not to become interested in the works of darkness, since those are a part of the opposite of Christ – the demonic. It is vital to followers if Christ to stay the course and follow Jesus’ guiding light, that we may not be run aground by the rocky temptations that so easily sink us.
Too often, Christians end up becoming “lone ranger believers,” trying to do life without any accountability from others, or they become enamoured with just one particular teacher or group that leads them away from Biblical truth. We must keep Jesus at the center of every aspect of our lives, to ensure that He is our guide, so that we continue to grow in Him more each day, rather than being tossed about by false doctrines that so easily creep upon us.
